EXCITING NEWS!
GBC is delighted to announce that Alan Blumberg,
a regular player at our night time sessions, has offered to be
a major sponsor of our club through his legal practice BLACKMAN
LEGAL of Lindfield. Alan has offered not only to sponsor
monthly duplicates but also to contribute a percentage of the
fees received from any club member back to the Club. In addition,
Alan is offering a complementary half hour conference at any
time, as well as a once off discount of $250 for use of on any
legal services. Blackman Legal operates on the values of personal
service and Alan is available on evenings and weekends as well
as making home visits. Located in Lindfield the firm offers
sound legal expertise and a dedication to long term legal, financial
and personal satisfaction of its clients. The firm specialises
in family law, property law, conveyancing, leasing, wills and
estates & commercial law. Blackman Legal also offers full certification
and notary public services. Alan can be contacted by phone on
94156344; by e-mail at alan@blackmanlegal.com.au
or you can visit the website: www.blackmanlegal.com.au
for more details. I’m sure you’ll agree that Alan’s sponsorship
is very generous and he has expressed the desire for this to
be for the long term. Please let your friends know so that we
can fully support Alan.
A few of our members are very helpful at the
end of each session. A director often has to play, be called
for infringements, organise movements. Then at the end score
up and proceed to clean up the room and wash the cups, etc.
It would be soooo helpful if each table could clean up any cups,
etc and take them to the dishwasher as well as place the boards
back in the box in order. Instead of the director staying back
often for an hour this could be reduced to 15 minutes. In fact
if everyone could bring their own cup it would make a BIG difference.
Thank you for your co-operation.
From October a special prize of a weeks free
bridge will go to the member who either emails or hands in to
the director the most interesting hand that came up at the table.
All 4 hands must be included in the description. Entries for
the October competition must be in by October 31. You can make
it funny too!

At the present time the Monday and Tuesday
night sessions at Gordon and the Friday morning session at E.
Lindfield are pre-dealt hands with hand records.
There is a bit of confusion about who is responsible
for what at the table. Bridge laws state that South does the
scoring, E/W check the scoring and North must pass the boards
to the lower number table.
It is bridge etiquette not to continue discussing a previous
hand when the next opponents arrive at the table. Please greet
your new opponents when they arrive at the table.
Free Bridge
The first week of each month you will receive
a free game if you bring along someone who has not played at
the club for over 6 months or who has never played with us at
all. The person you bring will also receive a free game. Your
support in bringing new people to the club will be much appreciated.
